Julie's School of Dance  January & February Newsletter 2012 All the dances are looking great!  We are so proud of everyone.   We want you to practice, practice, practice.   You are welcome to bring your video camera and record the dances the last 10 min. of class the week of Feb. 20th -24th.  This will make a great teaching aid at home don't forget to practice once with the video and once without so you don't become dependent on the video.      Attendance Policy-  Attendance policy is now in affect we will be keeping close tabs on your attendance.   You are only allowed to miss 3 classes from now until recital.  If you miss more you will not be allowed to perform in the show.  We will help you make up any classes you miss if at all possible but our time becomes very difficult the closer to the show we get.   Reserve missed classes for the most important times.  Shopping and other activities do not count.  Your class success depends on each and every student's attendance.  We are a team, class timing, formations, partners, and so much more depend on each student being in class.   Shoe & Tight Color Chart can be found on the website www.juliesdance.net. There is no need to purchase new shoes you can simply paint them. McGraw's Shoe Repair shop sells the paint designed for shoes approx. $10 per can it will paint 3 to 4 pairs of shoes or Generic Spray Paint will work it will chip but from the stage it won't be too noticeable. The choice is yours'.     Solo Try Outs:   We are having tryouts for solos in the recital on Friday, February 24th @ the Studio @ 7:00pm.   There will be 3 age groups 5-8, 9-12, and 13 & up.   Each student must have prepared a dance no more than 2 min. in length and no shorter than 1 ½ min.   You will be judged strictly on your stage personality and nothing else.  Only one solo per age group will win but all who tryout will be invited to participate in a special dance in the recital.  We hope to see you there!  What an exciting night!     Everyone is doing great, don't forget to practice. Class attendance is so important. We do not close for government holidays' the only other holiday we will close for now is Spring Break March 12th - 18th. Keep in mind that recital pictures are on the 24th  @ the Dance Studio.
